With a backyard filled with hundreds of miles of recreation, the ‘Ole Bear’ is the perfect destination for a romantic getaway, family vacation, or an adventure filled weekend.

For relaxing you can sit on the wrap around porch with views of the Unicoi Mountains and listen to the beautiful sounds of water in Historic Coker Creek or enjoy the song of the Whip-poor-will while eating at the outdoor dining table. For the adventurous the ‘Ole Bear’ is surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, lakes and streams, hiking trails and scenic drives. With a sprawling flat yard, creek access, fire pit, log swing, screened hot tub area, and grilling/picnic area – Bear Creek Cove has everything you need to enjoy the outdoors, right from the comfort of “home.” The inside of the home is nothing short of lovely. With a rocked gas log fireplace, comfortable leather furnishings, and large flat screen tv with Direct TV service, you’ll be sure to be able to unwind and relax. The fully stocked kitchen is open to the living area with ample counter space for meal prep, bar dining space, and extra log dining table. Another enticing feature of this beautiful home is the dual master suites, each with it’s own access to the outdoor amenities. The first offers a king sized bed, jetted jacuzzi tub, huge closet for storage space, flat screen tv with satellite service, and private bath with walk-in shower. The secondary master suite offers king sized bed, large walk-in closet for storage, flat screen tv with satellite service, and private bath with tub/shower combo. For guest convenience, there is a separate laundry area with washer/dryer, landline phone, and limited internet access.

Bear Creek Cove is located in Robbinsville, just outside of the Nantahala River Gorge. This area offers world renowned whitewater rafting and kayaking. The home is about a 25 minute drive to Bryson City. Bryson City offers much to those wanting to explore the Smoky Mountains. There you will find the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, known for the Great Pumpkin Patch Express and Polar Express. You will also find many great local dining venues, Nantahala Brewing Company, and several boutique shops. If you’re looking to do a little hiking, enjoy a few waterfalls, tubing, or fly fishing – make sure to check out the Deep Creek area of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. It’s a great, cost free place to enjoy your day. The Cherokee Indian Reservation is just 45 minutes away, where you can check out many historical and cultural places, such as The Museum of the Cherokee Indian, the Oconoluftee Village, and Unto These Hills Drama. You can also enjoy the nightlife of Harrah’s Cherokee Casino.

The Mountain Manor Hotel is located on a quiet street in downtown Robbinsville with mountain views. Spacious decks and patios outside each suite make it ideal for relaxing after a busy day enjoying the local sights and attractions. Located within walking distance to downtown, restaurants, grocery stores and the municipal pool and tennis courts. There is ample parking for bikes, cars and trailers. The Manor has extra-large one- and two-bedroom apartment-sized suites furnished in various themes with central HVAC and separate living, dining, kitchen and sleeping areas. The bathrooms in the one-bedroom suites have jet tubs. Each kitchen has a full sized refrigerator, stove, microwave and dishwasher and is fully equipped with all cutlery, dishes and cooking utensils. Robbinsville is convenient to all local attractions and sights including the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, Lake Santeetlah, Lake Fontana, Nantahala National Forest, Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest and is an ideal base for white-water rafting, hiking, mountain biking, fishing and exploring the local mountain and Cherokee cultures.

Stay in this tree-house type 200 sq ft one room glamping cabin nestled in the backwoods with private deck. Attached to back deck as we live here too. Make simple meals or add non vegan bfast (5 night max) for extra fee. Escape and unplug to our Appalachian “Eden”.The view doesn’t get any better than this! 2 mi from paved rd, all need 5″ clearance, 1.2 mi of uneven gravel/dirt with potholes. May be too rough for cycles but can park trailer 1 mi at neighbors. Use ONLY our directions!

The space
Get off the beaten path and adventure to the backwoods to enjoy this glamping cabin with private deck overlooking a wild brook trout stream. Our pretty creek brings plenty of white noise. Sufficiently furnished to make simple meals or treat yourself to breakfast. Unplug, reconnect with each other, and let the stress flow away in this unique decorated room. Imagine the sound of the creek lulling you to sleep and waking up in a tree-house like setting. A hot non vegan breakfast can be added for $10 per person per day. Advance notice required.

Guest access
The tiny house is a separate structure, not just an extra bedroom. It is connected to our back deck with access to a gas grill outside your door. Feel free to relax in the owner’s large screened porch with seating area and dining table overlooking Squally Creek, or have privacy on your own deck overlooking this beautiful trout stream.

Other things to note
We are 2 miles from a paved road, no cell, WiFi or texting. All vehicles need 5″ clearance due to 1.2 miles of uneven gravel/dirt road with shallow pot holes and bumps. May be too rough for motorcycles – suggest parking trailer 1 mile away at neighbors.

DIRECTIONS: We cannot stress enough to use ONLY our directions. If you don’t it WILL lead to a washed-out road.

GAS, RESTAURANTS, STORES: We are a half hour from gas, grocery store and restaurants. Robbinsville and Graham county have no packaged liquor stores.

ON SITE: fish for wild brook trout, wade in the refreshing creek, hike for miles up the road, bring outdoor gear, 4-wheelers or dirt bikes to ride the backwood roads right outside your door. Or just let nature re-energize your soul by listening to the creek, finish a book, or reconnect without your “devices” or star gaze.

CLOSE TO: “Tail of the Dragon/Deals Gap” (40 min) or “Cherohala Skyway” (20 min) on your bucket list? We are close to both! Our county has the best “twisties”. Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest (20 min), Santeetlah Lake (10 min), fish Snowbird Creek (20 min) and several others, Fontana Lake and dam (40 min), marinas for boat rentals (30 min), several waterfalls, hiking trails and overlooks, Stecoah Gap AT Trail and birding trail (40 min), Smoky Mountain National Park/Cades Cove entrance (2 hrs), Nantahala whitewater rafting (40 min), Cheoah rafting (30 min), Slingshot and motorcycle rentals (40 min), casinos (40 min), caves (2 hrs), and several artisan shops in the county. Tourist maps are provided.

UNPLUG: No cell or WiFi at cabin. (Verizon is local carrier in town and WiFi provided at McDonalds.)

You are coming to the backwoods which has a hunting season using hunting dogs. Our woods have wild animals, venomous  and non venomous snakes-avoid and do not provoke.Occasional chainsaw and 4-wheelers may be heard.

The Kickstand Lodge is a motorcycle riders resort in Stecoah, North Carolina.Located in the Smoky Mountains, surrounded by the best riding in the southeast, the Kickstand Lodge is a great destination for a weekend get-away or a week long stay. Fernwood Cottage offers a different type of mountain lodging in the Andrews, Murphy,  North Carolina area — a vacation rental mountain lodge divided into two separate suites. Each suite is private with its own large living/dining/bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom with shower, handmade king-sized bed, plus queen sofa bed for additional guests and dining table for four. Separate heat and air-conditioning, free WiFi, satellite TV with DVD and VCR. Totally furnished, beautifully decorated and immaculately clean.

Don’t worry about rushing to the grocery store on arrival. A continental breakfast will be waiting for you on your first and second days. You have the privacy of your own cabin, but also the option to bring along friends and family and have the place to yourselves.

Sandwiches begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday and are made to order on our fresh baked rolls and breads.  Please allow extra time for toasted sandwiches.

We found and purchased our first cabin in Andrews, NC in 2007. Since that time, we have added two more cabins for our guests to visit and enjoy what the area has to offer. Andrews is located in Cherokee County, North Carolina. Andrews is a beautiful and peaceful small town located in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing spot to escape the pressures and stresses of everyday life, you have found your dream getaway. he San-Ran Motel, an American owned and operated business since 1968, is located at 253 Rodney Orr Bypass (US 129) in Robbinsville, North Carolina in the heart of Graham County. The San-Ran is only 20 minutes from the Tail of the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway. Dragon’s Rest Cabin are located just 3 miles south of Robbinsville, North Carolina on US 129. Paved, level access from US129. Cabins have hard packed, level gravel driveway and parking areas.
